The story behind the print
This Japanese woodblock-style cat print depicts a fluffy mustard-coloured cat wearing a black bow, eating noodles from a large patterned bowl with black chopsticks. The cat's eyes are closed in a contented expression as noodles hang from its mouth into the bowl below. Vertical black kanji characters run down the right side of the composition, and red seal stamps appear at the corners.
The artwork uses a limited palette of mustard, black, and cream, with the bowl decorated in swirling white patterns against a dark background. The composition is centred and portrait-oriented, with the cat's head and bowl filling the frame. The woodblock-inspired illustrative style gives the print a graphic, traditional Japanese feel suited to kitchen or dining room walls.
