The story behind the print
This hen and chicks poster shows a large speckled orange hen standing over four peach chicks in a meadow of white daisies and green foliage. The hen's comb and wattle are bright red, and the chicks gather below her in a tight group. The background combines tall stems, seed heads, and small flowers in a flat, decorative layout.
The artwork uses an illustrative style with block-printed textures and a warm palette of orange, peach, cream, and green. The hen's feathers are rendered as short, repeated strokes, while the daisies and leaves create a dense, patterned field around the birds. The vertical composition keeps the hen centred, with the chicks forming a lower focal point.
This unframed paper print is produced to order in the UK on 270 gsm premium satin paper using a 12-colour Mimaki UCJV300-160 printer and authentic Mimaki OEM inks. It is rolled and packaged by hand and is available in multiple sizes through the Size selector. The frame is not included.
