The story behind the print
This Japanese cat poster depicts a ginger cat eating noodles from a red patterned bowl, with black chopsticks lifting strands of noodles. Bold black kanji characters appear above the cat on a textured beige background, creating a retro woodblock print style.
The composition centres on the cat's face and the bowl, with a raised tail visible on the left. The palette combines warm red, black, and tan tones, while the visible brush marks and grain add a traditional print texture. The bowl features geometric patterns in red and black, and the cat's fur is rendered in flat, illustrative shapes.
