The story behind the print
This Japanese fish poster shows a large speckled koi or trout gliding diagonally through deep green water, surrounded by a scatter of small orange minnows. Below, dense aquatic plants fill the lower edge, while the fish's blue-speckled back and pale underside stand out against the flat green background. The composition has a calm, downward-left flow that draws the eye across the print.
The artwork uses a restrained palette of forest green, slate blue, cream, and warm orange. The fish's markings are rendered as small stippled dots, and the minnows appear as simple elongated shapes, giving the scene an illustrative, almost woodblock-like quality. The plants are drawn as light silhouettes, adding texture without distracting from the central fish.
This Japanese fish poster is supplied unframed, so the frame is not included. It is printed to order in the UK on 270 gsm premium satin paper using a 12-colour Mimaki UCJV300-160 printer and authentic Mimaki OEM inks. Each print is rolled and packaged by hand and is available in multiple sizes through the Size selector.
