The story behind the print
This Japanese tiger poster depicts a prowling cat in a woodblock-inspired style, its body angled downward with a curved tail and long whiskers. Bold black stripes and rust-red markings stand out against a textured beige ground, while a red seal mark sits in the lower right corner. The vertical composition gives the animal a dynamic, stretched pose.
The design uses flat areas of colour and carved-looking linework to suggest a traditional printmaking technique. The tiger's face is drawn with narrow eyes and a red stripe down the nose, and the background carries a cross-hatched texture. This unframed paper print suits a gallery wall or a living room with Japanese or animal-themed art.
