The story behind the print
This botanical poster features a detailed illustration of purple sweet pea flowers with green vines and leaves against a pale green background. Four open blooms show deep purple petals with white edges and red veining, while a small bud and closed flowers sit among the foliage. Red Japanese kanji characters run down the right side, and a red seal mark appears at the bottom left.
The composition is vertical and balanced, with curling tendrils and broad green leaves framing the flowers. The colour palette combines purple, green, red, and cream, giving the artwork a soft, natural look. The style is illustrative and botanical, with visible line work and shading that define the petals and foliage.
