The story behind the print

This chess rook poster presents a high-contrast graphic of a black rook against a deep red rectangular panel. A small gold castle icon sits above the rook, while the words THE ROOK appear in gold serif capitals below. The composition is centred and portrait-oriented, framed by a wide cream border.

The artwork uses a limited palette of red, black, cream, and gold. The rook is rendered with a distressed, textured finish that gives it a vintage or retro print quality. The bold silhouette and clean typography make it a strong focal point for a chess-themed room or a modern study.

Supplied unframed, this print is produced to order in the UK on 270 gsm premium satin paper using a 12-colour Mimaki UCJV300-160 printer and authentic Mimaki OEM inks. Each print is rolled and packaged by hand and is available in multiple sizes through the Size selector.
