The story behind the print
This Japanese woodblock print features a large speckled trout swimming diagonally across a muted teal background, accompanied by a school of small orange fish and green seaweed below. The trout's body is detailed with dark blue speckles on a cream ground, while the orange fish create a striking contrast against the deep green water.
The composition draws on traditional Japanese printmaking, with flat colour areas, stylised seaweed, and a diagonal arrangement that leads the eye from lower left to upper right. The limited palette of teal, cream, orange, and dark blue gives the artwork a calm, natural feel that suits rooms with a nature or Japanese-inspired theme.
This unframed print is produced to order in the UK on 270 gsm premium satin paper using a 12-colour Mimaki UCJV300-160 printer with authentic Mimaki OEM inks. It is rolled and packaged by hand and available in multiple sizes. The frame is not included.
