The story behind the print
This unframed paper print features a wide-eyed ginger cat with a white chest, sitting beneath a large blue mushroom cap. A red toadstool with white spots rests in front of the cat, while smaller mushrooms grow from its head. The background includes stylised white and blue floral stems, red poppies, and a warm beige ground.
The illustration uses a bold, painterly style with visible brushstrokes and a palette of mustard yellow, bright blue, red, and white. The cat's startled expression and the oversized fungi create a surreal, whimsical composition. The vertical portrait layout centres the cat and mushroom against a light background, making the subject the clear focal point.
